We went to South Carolina this weekend to attend the NASCAR Sprint Cup race, so no couponing or shopping at Publix recently. I did of course bring my coupons so that we could stop by our favorite Publix on the way back into Tampa to pick up salad stuff and a use a few #Publix coupons. As I've mentioned before, this store is one of our preferred because they accept expired Publix coupons. As you can see from my shop, we plan this into our shops and it helps a lot with the overage. The Sundown vitamins are discounted in the new GAF and with the expired PQ from last GAF it really helps.
Unfortunately there has been a crackdown in the use of the Publix newspaper coupons we've been getting every Sunday all year in Tampa. Seems that some couponers at this store have abused the use of coupons with excessive use per order. Now they are enforcing "1 per customer" strictly. I felt sorry for the cashier and the asst manager because it was fear behind their actions. They didn't want to get in trouble for having their transactions scrutinized later. It's really a hassle and we had to pull out the cantaloupe to buy it separately since we had 2 coupons (1 for each me and DH) and they wouldn't let us use in the same order. They also enforced this on the expired bakery PQ from last week, so we had to ring up the buns separately too. They also wanted to have us do that for the expired Frozen foods PQ, but I explained that I couldn't just buy one bag of frozen shrimp because they were buy one get one and needed to be rung up in the same order. This required another few minutes for super duper upper management approval. I asked them to call corporate and get clarification on "1 per customer" because my contention is that it means one per person, not one per transaction. If it meant one per transaction it would say that, and if thats what they mean on the coupon they should write that. Anyway, the manager will get back to me this week with whatever Corporate says. So, even though they still do take expired Publix coupons, they will not be worth saving for BOGO deals at this store.
So, I ended up getting cash back and used that to pay for my cantaloupe and bread in separate orders. I saved $144 and was paid about $4.
