This week shopping has been ups and downs. Earlier this week, I had one of the worst shops of my life at Publix, and yesterday it was fairly pleasant. There were a few vitamins left for overage and I managed to find one lone CG nail file, plus the Pure Protein Bars and pens. I got some good feedback about my frustrating shop post the other day, one reader suggested just grabbing a magazine and browsing patiently while the cashier did her thing, or pull out an emery board and start filing my nails while I wait. I always know what my total should be so unless its different, I'll let the overzealous cashier have at it.
This Publix shop was pretty good, but due to the inconsistency of the enforcement of Target coupons (1 per guest, no overage) my total went negative. I always shop with my DH so the manager at this store says we can use 2 Target coupons per shop since we are 2 guests. I was not planning on getting the overage on the Pure Protein bar or the Papermate pens but continue to purchase since they will at least be free. Well, the guy cashier didn't mark down my TQ's so I had a little extra overage. This was making the supervisor nervous having to enter his numbers after every single coupon as it went negative. I forgot the water in the car so its not in the picture. They ended up paying me $1.53 so I saved over 100%.
Since the interpretation of TQs has become pretty random, I've changed the order in which I hand over coupons. I always give over the $/$$ Save A lot or Winn Dixie coupon first so they can verify the total on the order meets threshold. But now the next coupons are going to be Target coupons. This way I'll know if there will be additional overage, and if there is I can have DH run get an item to take up the overage, yesterday it was the Publix Drinking water which is kind of near the registers. Then since the cashier is manually entering competitor coupons, the Publix coupons are next which require more manual entry of LU#'s. Finally, the end of the order should go quick with manufacturer coupons that scan quickly. Plus, if numbers are required due to excess number of coupons the supervisor with numbers, sees all the manufacturer coupons left to scan and doesn't panic seeing the Target coupons.
