This week the ad for Publix is freaking me out. I have so many scenarios and can only get a few things I need in each trip because there is just not enough overage or moneymakers to afford me all I want. In the last week I've had to split orders and do multiple transactions just to use the $5 off $25 SAL or WD coupon to get any overage. Also the prices in my stores are much higher than the ad match ups I've calculated on. This week the Halls cough drops are $1.57 rather than the $1.23 everyone is using in matchups. Also the Suave Lotion is 3.29 rather than 2.45 in the match ups. But it didn't matter because the shelf at my store was empty. That's because the coupon doesn't beep if you use more than 2 in your order. So the wording "limit 2 per" is worthless and people will still clear the shelves. Anyway, a rain check is a good consolation since it will extend the life of the coupon which expires this weekend. I also need to get dog food that is kind of expensive, the Purina One big bag. But the stupid bag is not as big as it used to be, only 16.4 lbs now so that means it doesn't even last a month for a big dog. It's hard to cover fifteen dollars in overage these days in one order. I'm hoping for a good PQ in the Sunday paper - maybe a $5 off $50 if we're lucky.
So this shop I spent over $14, the most I have spent on any shopping trip all year (except for gas card shops). I saved $78.54 for a savings rate of 82%. I made a last minute decision to split the order so I could throw in another $5 off $25 and I didn't do the split very well. I was stressed out how much it was going to cost. One order ended up being negative and the other ended up over fourteen dollars. I really need to chill out and accept that they have moved my cheese. I hate that vendors are making smaller packages and raising prices and lowering coupon values. I understand the coupon usage restrictions, that doesn't bother me because if they didn't have them I would never be able to find the products I seek. So, I have several more shops to plan and do this weekend so I can get some Suave, Purina One and of course I'd like to get more of that Kraft Cheese.
I hope you have good luck with your shops and find all you need. Have a nice holiday weekend.
