Tips To Stay Cool This Summer

Yesterday, we were wondering around #Busch Gardens to get some exercise and my shirt was soaked with sweat. As usual, the temperature in July in Florida was in the 90's. Since we spend a lot of time outside we are used to it, but it still is hot. Here are some tips to handle the heat these days -

1. Wear loose and light fitting clothing. Those favorite old T-shirts from 1987 are really thin and light now, so wear the vintage clothing you have. Also wear your lightweight nylon shorts or looser shorts so your skin can breath.

2. Wear light color clothing. It's true that dark colors attract sun and heat so you'll be cooler wearing a white shirt and tan shorts. That's practically my summer uniform. I only wear black shirts to night time concerts.

3. Drink water. And drink more. And more. You can never drink enough water in the summer. You should drink an ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight. So if you're 150 lbs you should drink 75 oz or 3.5 liters of water a day. This will give you energy and stamina to beat the heat.

4. Freeze 1/2 filled water bottles and then add water right before use to keep your water colder longer. Use a koozie on your bottle to keep it cooler too.

5. Stay out of the sun. Pick shade if you can. Find a breeze.

6. Hang out in the shopping mall, grocery store, library for free air conditioning. At the theme parks, attend more shows especially the ice skating show.

7. Wear sandals and leave those socks and tennis shoes at home, you'll be a lot cooler.

8. Dig a hole in the ground and line it with a big piece of plastic for a makeshift pool when you add water. Or you could line the bed of your pickup truck with plastic to make a pool.
